PINMEET Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
PINMEET is a dating app run by Paul Brown ("PINMEET", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain English.

1. Who can use PINMEET
PINMEET is for people aged 18 and over. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and do not allow anyone under 18 to join. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we will suspend it and remove it. If you think a member is under 18, please use Report in the app or email us.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Email address and password (your password is stored only as a one-way scrambled "hash", so we cannot read it).
- Display name, date of birth (we show your age to others, not your birth date), gender, who you want to see and your preferred age range.
- Where you are from (country and region), optional.
- Your "About" text, optional.
- Photos you upload.
- Messages you send, likes, matches, blocks and reports you make (including anything you write in a report).
- If you choose to sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive the identifier and email address those services share with us.
Information collected while you use the app
- Location: while the app is open and you allow it, your phone sends your position to our server. We keep only your most recent point, not a history. If you turn on "Hide my location", we do not store your position. Your device's own system (Google on Android, Apple on iPhone) may also turn your position into a city name for your own Nearby heading.
- Place names: we send the centre of a small square area (about 200 metres wide), not your exact point, to a map service to find a neighbourhood and city name.
- Activity: when you were last active, and the times your likes were seen.
- Device and sign-in information: a description of your device or browser, an IP address, and a notification token if you allow notifications. Old sign-in records are removed about 30 days after they end.
- Consent records: the version of this policy and our Terms you agreed to, and the date.
We do not collect your contacts, and we do not use advertising or analytics tools.
3. How we use your information
- To run PINMEET: create your account, show your profile to other members, show who is nearby or from where you choose, and let members like and message each other.
- To keep PINMEET safe: check photos and review reports, remove content, and suspend or ban accounts that break our Terms. Our owner can see member details, with email addresses partly hidden, to do this.
- To check new photos automatically: when you upload a photo, it is sent to an outside image-checking service (see section 5) that looks for sexually explicit nudity. Photos that pass are shown to other members. A photo that is clearly explicit is hidden and not shown to anyone else. If the check cannot be completed, we may hold the photo until we have looked at it ourselves. This is an automatic check, and you can email us if you think a photo was wrongly hidden.
- To send emails you need (confirm your email, reset your password) and notifications (for example "X sent you a message"). Notifications never include the text of a message.
- To follow the law and protect our rights.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. What other members can see
Other members can see your display name, age, About text, approved photos, where you are from, and your current city and country (and the neighbourhood name in Nearby) unless "Hide my location" is on. They can see that you are active only if you turn that setting on. They never see your email, your date of birth, your gender (used only for filters), exact coordinates or distances. "Hide my profile" removes you from Nearby, Global and Likes.
Anything you put in your photos, About text or messages can be seen by the people you share it with. Please do not share anything you would not want others to know.
5. Who we share it with (service providers)
We use companies that help run PINMEET. They only get what they need and may only use it for that purpose:
- Supabase (database and private photo storage). Our database is located in Sydney, Australia.
- Render (the server that runs the app).
- Resend (sends our emails, so it receives your email address and the content of the email).
- Mapbox (turns a small area into a place name).
- Sightengine (checks new photos for sexually explicit nudity). It receives the photo only, not your name, email or other details.
- Expo and Google or Apple (deliver push notifications; they receive a notification token and the notification text, not your messages).
- Google or Facebook, only if you choose to sign in with them.
Some of these providers are based in other countries, so your information may be processed outside the country you live in. We may also share information if the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
6. How long we keep it
- Your account information and profile: until you delete your account.
- Location: only your latest point, replaced each time and never stored if you hide your location.
- Photos and messages: until you delete your account (see below). A photo that is hidden because it was clearly explicit is kept out of sight for up to 30 days, in case a mistake needs to be corrected, and is then removed.
- Chats you delete from your own list: the messages stay on the other person's side (see section 7).
- Sign-in records: removed about 30 days after they end.
- Reports, blocks and moderation records: kept as long as needed to keep PINMEET safe, even after an account is deleted.
7. Deleting a chat, and deleting your account
Deleting a chat. Deleting a chat removes it from your Chats. The other person keeps their copy. If they message you again, the chat comes back showing only the new messages. We may keep messages that were reported, for safety reasons.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account in the app (Profile, then "Delete my account"). Your profile is hidden and you are signed out everywhere straight away. We then erase or anonymise your information, including photos, location, and your sign-in details, within 30 days. Messages you sent are replaced with "[deleted]", except messages that were reported, which we keep for safety reasons. Messages you received stay with the other person. We keep reports, blocks and moderation records. Any backup copy made during deletion is destroyed within 30 days.
You can also ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected] from the address you signed up with, or through the delete-account page on our website.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for a purpose. You can change most details in the app. For a copy of your data or any other request, email [email protected] and we will answer within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. You have the right to complain to your local privacy regulator, for example the National Privacy Commission in the Philippines, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in Australia, or the data protection authority where you live.
9. Security
We use encrypted connections (https), store passwords only as hashes, keep photos in private storage that is shown through links that expire, and limit who can see member details. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If a breach affects you, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
10. Children
PINMEET is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email and ask you to agree again where the law requires. If PINMEET is transferred to another person or company, this policy will continue to apply to your information until you are told of changes.
